Edmarkers believe in the adage that “success in a journey and not a destination”. But last Friday’s STP Grand Graduation was different; it was a destination worthy to be celebrated and to be remembered by all especially the 60 plus graduates of 4 STP Batches, the largest every in Jeddah.  It was a success at the end of many days, weeks and even months of continued education, presentations, OTJ’s and lots of duplication and networking experiences.

Unlike regular academic graduation that opens the door for the graduate to be employed, STP Graduation in Edmark University of Success (EUS) is the commencement of the graduate’s entrepreneurial life. STP graduates were trained by experienced coaches and mentors who are successful entrepreneur-networker themselves. Thus, last Friday’s rites and celebration was a festivity with all the formalities, honor, excitement, and fun, complete with trill of emotional fireworks, bouquet of flowers and the downpour of candies and gifts.

The daylong stage decoration and venue preparations were meticulously planned and executed with personal supervision of Master Coordinator Florante (Rex) Gueco Lim.  Upon his signal, Mr. Willard Dilag Amado, operating the sound and sight, played the graduation marching song which filled the graduation hall creating a goose bumps sensation to the candidates for graduation and guests alike as the two powerful Masters of Ceremonies, International and Senior Trainer, Jhun Julia and STP Club-ber Chairman, Abu Yousif Al Khalifa announced the start of the Graduation Ceremony by acknowledging the entrance of banners of  STP’s major subjects, MDR, HTL/SSM, NDT, TNT/GSS.

One by one the members of EUS faculty were introduced as they marched and occupied their seats on the stage.  These teachers contrary to the teachers in other business schools who are not experienced businessmen are active and successful networkers and entrepreneurs who had put to practice the ESS they are teaching to be duplicated. They are: AbdulWahab Bogess, CM Isabelo Urquia, Susan Belgar, CM Abdul-Rahman Oshi, CM Rodelyn Tibus Refulgente, Willard Dilag Amado, Baligh Q. Individually starting with STP Batch 1 & 3 Arabic and STP Batch 7 & 8 English all the candidates for graduation beaming with mixed emotions were introduced one after the other as their solo pictures were snapped in their stunning graduation toga slowly did the graduation processional march to their respective seats.

As the rushing adrenalin at the graduation hall settled, reverence and faith engulfed the hall when Mr Abu Obaida in Arabic and Mr. Jhun Julia in English invoked the powers and glory of God Almighty claiming blessing and success of the grand graduation ceremony.

True patriots and good citizens, Edmarkers and guests gave their respect to the flags and the countries and people they represent as they saluted and sang with zest the National Anthems of Saudi Arabia, Malaysia and the Philippines.

The Edmark cultures highlighted by the energizer dance participated by everybody including the children added the needed actions to defuse the intensified sentiments that finally released as the candidates for graduation did the Edmark’s spirit  and the Edmark International Clap before, during and after the overwhelming welcome address of Mr AbdulWahab Bogess acknowledged and T-UP everybody.

 Slide1

Divided by colors, united by each banner, Edmakers of Jeddah were grouped into 4. The Blue Group are as manly as they are – strong and commanding; the Red Group are aggressive and restless; The Pink Group are reserve but firm, they are nice but determined to win no matter what; and the Violet Group, majestic, royalty but equally competitive.

ASM Jacob, the Camp Director at the top of his voice declared the 2nd Jeddah Edmarkers Summer Camp opened, followed by the thunderous Edmarks International claps and the awakening Edmarkers spirit.  The afternoon became even vigorously blazing after the energetic Edmarkers dance and the group chanting competition lead by respective group leaders. Few minutes of preparation the group of different nationality, ethnicity, colors and creed, agreed to a chanting they hurriedly composed, rehearsed and executed with gusto in front of the judges and fellow Edmarkers with all their might at the peak their voices.

The actual battles of colors begun, when the 4 Groups hurriedly assembled outside for the famous “Tug-of-War” Game with a twist. In group of selected 10 members, instructions and strategies discussed and agreed to win the much need points. Full here, full there let the group with strongest team work. . .  win.

Before the World Cup started in South Africa, Edmakers in Jeddah has already tasted the joy and excitement, the physical challenges and the team work required in winning the world revered sport, Soccer. Amid the team members’ cheers and encouragement, the combined players of Red and Violet Groups team-up together against the tandem of Pink and Blue Groups, muscle against muscle, strategy against strategy, done their best in the spirit of team work and highest sportsmanship.

After the furious and exhilarating football game all the 4 Colors went in to compete in Chess, Scrabble and Dart Games. In the midst of restricted cheers, Edmarkers endured the pounding of heart beats as the winners celebrate every victory and the losers wished the game is not yet over.

 Slide4

To declare the Color that will claim the Championship, the final game has to be won, soaked in the water.  Yes, the last game is swimming relay, not with baton, but with puzzle picture to be completed in the least time possible. The five-member team, representing 4 Groups,  splashed, swum, crawled and fought their way through the finish line and quickly putting together the 5-piece cut pictures of Splina.  Jumping up and down celebrating the triumph, the SCENT Members prepared the Dinner started feeding the hunger and thirsty Edmarkers, queuing the line still trying to catch their breath.

After the satisfying dinner, everybody gathered to for the Moment of Truth.  ASM Jacob and CM Boy Urquia with all the Committee Chairpersons and Members with all the Judges, announced the winners and distributed the prizes courtesy of Edmark International.

 Slide5

Everybody was in high spirit and the joy overflowing, camaraderie is on the air. With Edmark’s song on the background and the cheers engulfed the function room, The Violet Flag was raised twice as the Group was declared the “Most Energetic” and the Champion. The group Leader, EM Rose Angco led the members jumping in joy claiming their medals and prize.  Declared First Runner Up was the Red Team headed the Group Leader Mr. Zoroor.  Second Runner Up was the Blue Team headed by Group Leader Mr. Mustapha Hashem and the Third Runner Up as the Pink Team headed by Group Leader Mr. Abdullaziz Bakoban.

After the awarding Mr. Jun Julia, asked the 4 flag bearers to come forward and instructed them to lay down the flags and declared that as the 2nd Summer Camp ended.  Edmarkers of Saudi Arabia are United and Feeling Good now, as One, Undivided. And the competition of colors ended in the same place where it started.  As the Edmarkers dispersed, their tired bodies were still smiling, their hearts pounding with joy and happiness, because that night, while everybody was I the playing mode we learned by doing that there is no “I” in “Team”.

For the successful 2nd Edmarkers Day Summer Camp we wanted to acknowledge the following persons for their invaluable help and contribution:

HQ Jeddah, SCENT Team, STP Club-bers, Leaders, Mr. Sam Low and most of all the Almighty God for His blessing.  To God be the glory!
